Search Engines

Search engines are programs that search information or documents for specified keywords and return a list of the documents where the keywords were found. Search engine is actually a general class of programs; the term is often used to specifically describe systems like Google, Bing, Yahoo and the likes.

Characteristically, a search engine functions by sending out a spider to fetch as many documents as possible. An indexer then reads these documents and creates an index based on the words contained in each document. Each search engine uses a proprietary algorithm to create its indices such that, ideally, only meaningful results are returned for each query.

Search Engine Optimization

The higher a website ranks in the results of a search engine, the greater the chance that that a visitor will stumble upon it. It is familiar practice for online users to not click through pages and pages of search results, so where a site ranks in a search is essential for directing more traffic toward the site. SEO ensures that your website is crawled upon by the search engine spider.

A search engine is like a bridge between the online audience and your website. The faster your website bridges the gap between, more benefits will come the way of business. Check out the various search engine tools.
